Hey guys

Right had my Asrock Z77 Extreme4 for a while now and brilliant board

only small problem i've found is the USB3 slots on the back

because of my case (mountain mods H2GO) i don't actually have a front panel etc etc, so the USB3 header on the board has nothing to plug into.

Can anyone else with this board confirm if the above is the reason why the ports on the back won't work ( I've tried them all with External HDD's, Various mice, keyboards, gaming controllers, they all work on the USB2 ports, just not the 3's)

Just curious before i waste money buying a Usb3 front panel +header lead.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi,

Yes, both sets of USB3 drivers were installed when i built the machine. Just done a fresh install of the Intel and the ASMedia's, but no change.

Just to add, Device manager shows that all Usb ports are working correctly :S

Not sure m8 as you have 4 x usb3 on the back which are controlled by 2 controllers, ASMedia ASM1042 and Intel® Z77 . The usb 3 front ports are controlled by Intel® Z77 and all are backwards compatable, so getting a front panel header wont change the situation.

The only thing i can think of is doing a complete fresh install of windows and drivers.

How do you know it won't change the situation? i see you have the same board. Could you not remove your Usb3 header just to check? thats why i posted this thread, It's not a software problem, i only built the machine up 4 weeks ago and it's been as such since then.

I removed the front header and all the devices work correctly on the rear usb 3. There are usb 2 headers on the board so you could try that but That still leaves you with the same problem. Have you been into the bios to check that the usb 3 are enabled ?
