Ubisoft says that in the very near future, it is going to be working with more batch friendly data. They are also working on making the DX12 a more useful tool when it comes to the next couple of Assassin’s Creed games. Unity might have had it’s flaws, but it appears that the company has learned from those mistakes. Hopefully that means Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate is going to be as good as claimed.

I loved Unity for all of its flaws and it really was a stunning game on PC and it now appears that Syndicate will be getting the DX12 love. It will be interesting to see how GameWorks and DX12 work together.

I really liked Unity and it does look absolutely incredible on PC if you have the brute force power to overcome its performance issues. I played through it on a 980 with only a couple of settings turned down (shadows and AA) and didn't notice any dips below 60fps at 1080p. Enjoyed it more than any AC game since the second one.

I don't think game-works can exist in its current form with DX12. It will more than likely have to be used from its source code for the shaders.

I've lose track on how many Assassins Creed games there are. Never got into the first one as I found it got very repetitive and boring quite quickly. The others any better?

Gameworks already has DX12 libraries for everything. Dll's work exactly the same way under DX12.

A couple of the DX12 demos that have been shown at trade shows made use of GW.

:confused::confused:
Of course Gamesworks exists for DX12, if anything middleware libraries like GW will be even more important to get the best performance out of all the different hardware.

Was not sure how the calls would work. Since the game engine controls state etc. so the calls would have to be fed back to the game engine instead of straight to the driver.

So i assumed they would need source code straight in the engine instead of using an external library.

Dlls work the same, the main app makes the call and the dll passes back the result, gameworks under dx11 doesnt make calls directly on the driver, you don't need source code for either

If anything doesn't this tell us Syndicate isn't getting DX12?

Isn't that as in the games after Syndicate? There to far ahead on Syndicates development now.

Because it has Gameworks in the game I'll probably have to get an Nvidia card to play it with reasonable performance, I'll wait until the next full fat Titan :)

I enjoyed the Assassins Creed franchise but havn't picked one up in a while (3 being the last version I bought), a friend of mine bought A.C. 4 so I watched bits of that, and had a few goes at the naval combat, might be time to pick the franchise up again,with it being a while since I've sat down with an A.C. game it could feel refreshing again - with an added bonus of DX12 - I'l be keeping an eye out on this alright :)

I thought the same Nasha, but I have read other places claiming DX12 in this, so hopefully it is correct and it does indeed ship DX12ed up.
