Just completed this (Director's Cut), thoughts below:
+Impressive graphics, and well stylised
+Decent framerate (80-120fps); the horror stories about performance seem to be unfounded
+Low VRAM usage, you could play this quite comfortably on a 640MB card I reckon
+Better gameplay than I was expecting as I dislike platform games, it doesn’t rely on perfect timing of jumps etc
+I like the fact that most buildings are climbable, it isn’t too contrived in terms of feeding you down a single path
+Variety of hiding methods is a nice touch
-Unbelievably convoluted method of quitting the game, the worst I’ve ever seen in fact. It takes a minimum of ELEVEN clicks to quit, which would be bad enough on its own, but this is compounded by having to wait through a couple of loading sequences. Then once you finally get back to the initial splash screen you have to reload your profile in order to exit, how incredibly ****ing stupid is that? If I designed such a poor interface I wouldn’t just lose my job, I’d be taken out the back and shot as a service to humanity.
-Load times are too quick so you almost never get time to listen to the hints’n’tips voiceover that plays on the loading screen. It should have a ‘press any key to begin’ prompt for when you are ready.
-Game gets a bit repetitive midway through… in the early missions I was doing all the investigations, rescuing all the citizens etc, but I gave up towards the end. Also pretty lame that all the bureaus seem to be identical except for the colour scheme
-Fights are a bit slow paced and tame compared to say Dragon Age 2, most of the time I just stand holding block surrounded by half a dozen baddies, waiting for them to lunge so I can hit counter (which seems overpowered). Fights don’t seem to scale much the more enemies you face, they should all rush at once to overwhelm you or something.
-Unskippable ‘cutscenes’ everytime you complete a minor objective (such as saving a citizen) get very tiresome after a while, as it prevents you from moving effectively towards your next objective
-The modern era sections feel unnecessary (and very dull), they break up the flow of the main game
