K, so saturday or sunday I'm picking up my parts for new computer build. I wanted to see if u guys can give me some pointers on how to assemble ? I read few topics that explained how, but getting more info won't hurt.
Like what do I assemble first ? Can I assemble Mobo and Ram and Cpu and Heatsink outside the case and then put it in ? Also I will have 2 drives, how do I connect them ?
And once everything is put together what's the next step to installing software ?
Here's my build

Case: Thermaltake Tsunami
CPU : Core 2 Due E6600
Mobo: Asus P5N32-SLI Deluxe
Ram: 2GB Dual Channel OCZ Platinum DDR2 800
Video: Evga 7900GT
HDD: Wester Digital Raptor 74 GB 10,000 rpm 16mb cache
HDD2: Wester Digital Caviar 250 GB 7,200rpm 16mb cache
PSU: OCZ Powestream 600W
Heatsink: Zalman 9500
DVD: Plextor

As a general order get the case sorted first, remember to screw the mounting fixings into the tray for the mobo, so install the DVD, the hard drives, the PSU. Then put in in your mobo, add the RAM and CPU, sort out all the fan/power/data cables refering to any pin outs in your mobo manual. Then install your graphics card/PCI and away you go :)

It shouldn’t be too tricky, just take your time and if something doesn’t fit don’t force it. Its also good to read the supplied literature as everything you should need to know is in there Best of luck!

If i were you i would put the cpu/hsf on before you put the mobo in the case, not sure how difficult the conroes are to go on, but I remember when i built mine ( sckt 939 3700+ ) fitting the mobo then attaching the cpu/hsf and the sweat, blood and tears it took as the board bent and flexed under the pressure.

Good luck with the build :)

Yep, I made the mistake of trying to remove a heatsink whilst the mobo was installed in a micro case

That's completley backwards if you ask me ;)

You need to put the CPU, HSF and RAM into/onto the motherboard whilst it's in the box. Then put the standofs into the case and screw the motherboard to that. Then install the PSU and connect the appropriate leads to the motherboard, also wire up the front panel connections and any extra USB or sound headers etc. Then add the video card and connect power is required. Then finally do the hard drive, floppy drive and optical drives in that order but connect the power last- just add the data cables when installing as the power cables will get in the way of adding the optical drives :)

I disagree. Putting the drives in before the mobo saves damaging things later. There's nothing worse than whacking a resistor or something off a brand new mobo while you're trying to squease a drive past it.
I would, however, hold the mobo near the mobo mounting place (?) :p just to make sure all of the screws are going to line up first.
And ALWAYS assemble mobo, cpu, heatsink and ram outside of the case (on a static-proof surface of course!) saves a lot of fiddling around later.

HTH
