Said i had 30 miles left, i actually had about 10 meters lol

Had to do the walk of shame to the petrol station, luckly not more than mile away.

Anyway, Astra owners, don't trust the thing. Its obviously not accurate :D

Generally they indicate miles to the nearest petrol station rather than miles before you run out.

:p

Heh i wish that were the case, i was only a mile away, i thought i would make it with at least 10 miles in hand. A 30 mile margin of error was not expected !

Mine is the complete opposite. 0 miles left in the tank according to the trip-computer, yet I still did a 30 mile drive home.

Hmm so thats a 60 mile margin on a two car sample. Does this computer run Windows 95 ?

Windows 95? Nah windows 95 worked because it was so simple. I think mine runs the same software found on cheap motorola phones!

Its not like mine has only done it the once either. I know that I can do a 30~ mile drive when the 0 miles warning lights up.

and the fuel light comes on bang on 25 miles/quarter of a tank! Bit quirky these VAG guages. Reckons quarter of a tank does 25 miles, yet the first three quarters does about 275!

Old omega displaying 19 miles left: Really means 0.

As I found out approaching a set of traffic lights 10 yards from the Petrol station. Kudos to the woman who sat behind me getting mad and sounding her horn, when I had my hazards on too.

petrol warning on my fezza comes up at 50 miles to go! 50 MILES!

Any ideas of how far I can run it after it hits 0 ?

Assuming you mean Ferrari, which I doubt, not very far :p

My Elise tells me to refill with 10L left in the tank... I can do 100 miles on 10L!

Mine goes off the bottom of the gauge and reads differently depending on which way the wind is blowing, no such technology to tell me how many miles i have left.

My Mondeo one isn't too accurate.. it said I had 40 miles left, yet it was reading 0.2 gallons!

By the time I'd got a petrol station, it was down to 0.1, the fuel gauge was sat as if the tank was totally empty :p

My Fiat Stilo's is just about accurate down to the last 10 miles, gives a decent warning 50-60 miles when the light is on.

However a Ford Ka I had once decides to put the light on about 2 miles before its empty.

My Mums Micra, says you have 0, nothing left, all warning lights flashing etc, yet still happy as anything doing 40 miles.

Dads Primera, fuel gauge in the red, trip computer says 15 miles, yet its got nothing left and dies.

The motto is, keep the tank full!

Hehe, M40-A34 junction nr Bister LCR reckons 25miles left, still got all the way to Reading, 51 miles.

Glad it's not the other way around, unlucky :D

EDIT: Bizzarely the old Leon (Cupra) had a binary fuel gauge, stayed on full for aaaaages. As soon as it went below full I swear you could see it drop to empty.

my ibiza was like that, did about 200 miles and still full, then another 100 to the light coming on which meant 7 litres left.
I don't know how much i have left in my mondeo when the light comes on though, i'm not brave enough to risk it :D

Hmm yeah, my Leon was like that. Didn't move for the first 75 miles and then dropped like a stone.
