Just a quick question to which i hope there is a simple answer...

I have just received an email saying the following:

Dear xxxxxxxxx,

We recently tried to rebill your recurring order xxxxxxxxx for Searchtech Limited.

For the following items:Unlimited DSL Plan : 9.69 ( GBP ) However, your bank declined the transaction for the following reason: 530 : Do Not Honor

To have these charges post to a different card (or update your expiration date, etc.), please enter your new billing information using the link below. You will be prompted to enter the first 6 and last 2 digits of the previous credit card. https://www.2checkout.com/va/sales/customer/change_billing_method?sale_id=xxxxxxxxxxx

After speaking with the bank they have said that no payment application has been made, there are plenty of funds so they cannot understand why there would be an issue.

My card is not due to expire for another year so that isnt the issue.

I also rang 2checkout.com who are the billing company, i spoke to some american drone who said that they had requested payment but the bank had declined and if i did not have any luck with my bank i should ask to speak to a manager!

From a quick google i am not the only person who has experienced this however there does not seem to be any 1 single solution.

I dont own a credit card, i have 1 current account and thats it.

Anyone had this happen to them and if so how did you resolve the issue?

The only issue I have ever had with AstraWeb Billing failing is because I lost my bank card and had to cancel it and order a new card, which had a new number, so they tried to bill my old card.

Apart from that I couldnt possibly say why they are failing yours :\

ive had the same problem for a few months now, but my usenet account is still working fine so im just going to ignore it until they cut me off

Mine was like that when I had a new card number, I hadn't paid for like 2 months but I could still use my account :) then when I put my new card details through, they didn't even charge me for the 2 months I did not pay :)

mmm, lucky :)

my friend had a very similar problem to this - paid for months with his debit card, then 1 day was told the bank had refused payment; he couldnt seem to get them both to agree on what was wrong so he just ended up paying via paypal.

I suspect im going to go this way too.

The annoying thing is that i also emailed Astraweb to see if they had any information and their reply was along the lines of "sorry you have experienced a billing issue, this is nothing to do with us, if you want to cancel your account click this link"

Bit annoyed by it all now actually.

£9.69 for unlimited DSL? You're on the wrong package. ;) The kleverig $11 special is the exact same account, at a cheaper ('special offer') price. It works out closer to £7 a month.

Linkage.

Yeah i saw that a few weeks back and a friend of mine took the offer up.

Since then he has had a fair few problems but he doesnt know if its with Astraweb or his ISP, but it did start at the time he started with astra.

He could always suspend the Astra account for a month and try the Supernews SuperSpecial, which is only $9.99 (so even cheaper). It's limited to 800 days retention - a cap which is raised occasionally - but it is owned, and operated, by Giganews from their own servers. In other words it's excellent, and will have no speed issues.

If his problems persist, he knows to go to the ISP. If they alleviate, he can blame Astraweb/routing/whatever. :)

e: I should also add that I was a Giga customer for years, at a reduced price ($19.99 for life). However I'm now of a mind to go with their Supernews SuperSpecial at $9, and buy a 180GB block from Astraweb for the odd download which would be >800 days, and for fills. That way it works out very much cheaper, and I still get to use the Giga servers.

Can't say I have had any issues with Astraweb, speed is flawless, the only issues I have had have been on about 3 occasions, all being my ISP and/or local BT issues.

Never had an issue with Astraweb and been with them for almost 2 years now. Fantastic service and much recommended

Had a similar issue but my card had expired, astra support simply told me to re-register my new card and then email them back with the new account details.... they simply updated the details and amended any cost or time back :)

Cant fault astra dont think ive had one day where its been down even been solid using it for past 3 years 24/7 :)

The exact same thing has happened to me! Been great for years and this months payment has been declined twice with the same reponse email bank said "do not honour"

It is obviously something wrong at 2checkouts end. Will have to change over to paypal I guess.
