Hi guys,

I've been wanting to buy this headset for a long time now and from watching YouTube reviews, it seems like a pretty good headset.

I was just wondering if anyone else has this model and would recommend it.
Please note, I'm not looking for any other headset, regardless of the price tag.

Thanks in advance.

Hey,I have the a40 2013 model,It's SUPERB for gaming,I love it,

The main selling point is the mixamp,It works better on Consoles not going lie,

But none the less worth every penny! I've owned a40's since 2010 and upgraded since then.

There customer support is great,They have a policy i believe,If you don't like them within 30 days you can return them full money back you just have to pay postage.

I'm actually getting there new headset for my XboxOne unless they bring a adapter out.

Go for it mate,I promise you won't regret it!

Oh and i've used every kind of headset trust me,From turtle beach high end,To Tritton,To razer,Sennhieser,Everything pretty much and i find these are the best.

If you are console gaming the only better combo you could get imo,Is Sennhieser PC360 with the mixamp. But the A40 headset is top notch.

These are great! i bought the headset and mixamp off a mate and there amazing! ive owned turtle beaches but these are up another notch.

Also coming from xbox gaming i know they use astros in the MLG series for cod gaming etc

Don't want to hijack or anything but is the A50 exactly the same hardware just wireless? Same sound quality as the A40?

No personal experience sorry but only heard good things, other than its pricey for what it is, not a problem if you don't mind the price

I've seen some reviews on YouTube and I reckon the A40's are better than the A50's for several different reasons:

-The mic can be changed from one earpiece to another
-Sound Quality is slightly better than the A50's
-More reliable (IMO) than wireless due to the fact that wired equpment seems to work better than wireless (like computer mice).

I'm not 100% certain on the sound quality but from what I've heard, the A40's are slightly better.

There's a lot of positivity here, but I just want to throw in my opinion.

I'd used the A30's for two years and absolutely adored them. Decided I wanted to upgrade, but stick with Astro as they'd been so good with me (customer service was excellent). Bought a pair of A40's straight from the Astro site, which arrived within two days... Literally within twenty minutes of testing them out, I was packaging them back up.

Compared to the A30's, they felt cheap, tacky and completely unsturdy. The sound quality was awful in comparison to A30's, and horrendous compared to my other headphones (although, this is only fair).
I was asked on TS/Skype immediately what had happened to my mic, and swapping the two out proved that the A40 mic was worse.
They were also dreadfully uncomfortable, feeling cumbersome and unnecessarily grippy.

I was very disappointed, as I had hoped for a larger headset at the same quality. I explained this all (politely) to Astro, and they of course refunded me straight away, apologizing and insisting they don't often get this kind of feedback... Leading me to wonder if my headset was in fact faulty. I never heard back from them either way, but I really do hope so, as it sounds like so many people truly enjoy theirs!

Funny you should mention that, I recently watched a review where the reviewer had to have his headset replaced after a few weeks because the metal central part of the headband at the top, had snapped off.

Having said that, I've read plenty of reviews from other sources suggesting that they're a very well made, quality headset. One thing I'd like to address is the fact that in some cases, the microphone quality is very poor. Some have said that the latest firmware updates have improved this where as others have disagreed.

If anyone has this headset, would they be kind enough as to tell me how good the sound quality of the microphone is?
I've watched plenty of reviews on YouTube comparing the mic quality to other headsets but just wanted honest feedback from people who actually own this headset themselves.

Thanks

The Mix amp is great, but the A40 headset isn't amazing for what it costs. Don't get me wrong it's decent enough, but if I knew 3 years ago what I know now I'd have gone with just buying the Mix amp separately and paid £30-£40 extra and got Sennheiser PC360s instead.

No not the same - each has their good and bad points.

I own the A50's and love them, the A40's are a top piece of kit, but I really wanted wireless :)

A40+Mixamp is top notch. Yeah yeah the PC360's are a little better but we are splitting hairs here.

Ive used the A40/mixamp for years on console and cannot fault them.

How to you folks connect to pc? Do you use optical out from the motherboard?
