Astro A40's

My Mix amp is powered using the PC's USB and I have the optical plugged into which ever console I happen to be using. This way I get sound from both the PC and Console and I'm also able to use Skype for voice chat while using which ever console. There's probably a better solution, but this works for me.

It's only a headphone amp and headphones with an inbuilt microphone, it works with the majority of devices that support such things.

You just don't see much talk about them for PC use because the PC has more and better choices and the console doesn't e.g the 360 will not support USB PC headsets due to no drivers (not that it couldn't support them, just no reason for Microsoft to do so).

Hit the nail right on the head, like for pc's, you have the possibility of sound cards, external amps/dacs etc, where as Alrik said, the xbox/ps dont like all headsets :p

I have the A40's + Mixamp. Quality bit of kit up there with the best, nothing more to add apart from if you are thinking about buying stop thinking about it you will not be dissapointed. The contains every conceivable lead you will ever need for whatever you want to connect it too.

Just buy it ;)

I bought these about 2 months ago.

I have a lot of problems to start off with, solely around the mic quality.

There seems to have been a lot of issues for some people regarding the quality of the sound coming from the mic.

Updated the firmware helped a little bit but the main contributing factor was using a good USB cable, the one that comes with the headset is proper bobbins. Also using a USB 3.0 port made a HUuuuuuuuGE difference.

Now, it's all good.

The sound quality is nothing short of spectacular and the mic quality it superb.

It's a lot of cash but I feel it worth while at the moment.

Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated :D

I use to own a pair.

There nice to have and somewhat a 'fashion statement' as everyone knows what Astro A40's are.

That being said as a lot of people already mentioned for what they are they are overpriced.

The Sound quality is OK but for the price but there is a lot better.

For gaming there not too bad, it's if you listen to music that they lag behind.
