Astronomers - What is this?

Just spotted this insane bright star, or so I think it is. It's 200 degree south (I'm in Waltham St Lawrence), it's not moved over the past 45 minutes. What star am I looking at? I've lived here for over 2 years and never noticed/seen it before. And often gaze stupidly into the stars at night.

Oddly enough I noticed similar when we were in Oz last week. I chalked it down to being able to actually see the sky instead of streetlights, but it was ridiculously OP compared to the other stars.

How to see Sirius. Most people in the Northern Hemisphere notice Sirius in the southeast – south – or southwest on evenings from winter to mid-spring. February evenings are a grand time to see it. Whenever you see Sirius, you’ll recognize it easily because it is our sky’s brightest star.

Hah funny I noticed this a couple of days ago - nothing was showing on skymap with my phone :( Venus was off to the left of it and Nepture below it on the horizon at the time. Was going to double check it wasn't one of the space stations but I'm pretty sure at the time the IIS was off near the moon direction wise.
 
Was gonna say the space station, but for no movement in 45 minutes isn't too odd. Space Station sees about 17 sunsets/rises a day.

Most likely, Venus.
 
It is Venus - just checked today and its dead on with Venus on skymap - strange last couple of days it wasn't lined up with Venus.
