ASUS 5850: Serial number not recognised

I bought a Asus 5850 from OCUK in March 2010. The card became faulty (graphic corruption, seems to happen a lot to ATI cards ) and it was over 1 year since purchase and I thought contacting asus directly would be easiest option.

I tried their web form but their system would not recognise the serial number entered. I sent an email to their technical support 2.5 weeks ago and have been going around in circles with Jerry Qin since.

The SN on my card is not recognised by their system still after sending a photo of the green sticker on the back with S/N stamped on the card. Is there another serial number on the card that i am missing? is the number printed next to S/N really the number i need and their system is not picking it up correctly? Is it possible this is a misbranded card or even fake?

The latest email states they will not do anything more for me unless i find this missing SN even though i have a OCUK receipt and bank statement proofs available to them. What rights do i have to get a result?

Maybe contact OcUK with the above info, you never know, they may help you out even it's over a year (just).

Are you sure there is no dodgy B instead of 8 or such? There usually isn't any O or I in S/Ns either

I was definately entering zero's in their webform but to save me time and effort I sent a pciture of the S/N to them and they say its not recognised.

I will drop OC a webform and hope they can help with this though i guess bank holiday messes things up a little.

I would do some inquiring, 1 year+ just isn't enough, I would find out if the warranty is still under OCuk, even if they said it's not.

Christ almighty. I bought an Asus HD5770 just because it came with a 3 year warranty and now and although I haven't had any issues with it yet all these reports I keep reading about the crappy customer service they give is really making me nervous if I ever have to end up returning it.

For the first 2 years of any products life span you should deal with the retailer directly then if anything goes wrong in year 3 you then go out to the manufacturer.

I hadn't tried OCUK so i will see what they have to say. Reason for not trying OC first was they washed their hands on a creative rma last year which creative instantly replaced without any fuss. See if its the complete opposite this time.
