Asus A8n-sli deluxe northbridge fan

I'm starting to notice weird sounds from this fan and looked it up on the net ... it appears that they are a weak point of this mobo ... as such I'm trying to find out how to remove the old one and what to replace it with. Seeing as none of the fans in my case have ever been replaced, I was wondering if I should do the lot (there is only the stock Antec P180 fans). Either way, feel free to offer advice on all of the above please ... especially the old fan removal and installing the new one :confused:

Is there an aftermarket fan that can just be screwed on to the heatsink without having to replace the heatsink itself?

I have the A8NE motherboard in my D/L rig, if its just the southbridge, I just pulled the plug from the fan.

Not really had any issues with it, although this is probably not reccomended!

This is in my old rig that still runs well despite being a little long in the tooth .. and it's been relegated to being the family workhorse so I'd like to keep it going. Surely there is a fan other than the one supplied by Asus. I've heard that they are still a cheap item in regards to quality. So what will screw into the existing heat sink ...
oh ... thanks for the fan removal guide. I had a quick look and I can see what to do now .... now to find a good replacement
