Asus A8V Deluxe rev 2 - sata 2?

Lookin in manual i read on 2-24 page that it says at this time high speed 150mb a sec compared to ata 133mb sec. Is that cos sata 2 wasnt out or somit. Its just id like the 300mb speed (take jumper out thing) on segate 7200.10 drive if i get one next month on this motherboard. Im using 1014 bios if thats any help.

So basically im woundering is it sata 2 able?

Not as far as I know, although SATA II is designed to be backwards compatible I don't think(read as 99.99% sure) that you can change a SATA motherboard to be capable of SATA II.

I really wouldn't worry about it though, for most use you will not be likely to notice the potential extra difference in throughput, the biggest impact will be newer drive technology although burst speed is where SATA II would have been helpful but again it won't matter greatly.

i run sata II disks of a SATAI controller with no problem - although i am using it for storage rather than performance so i will not see the performance loss/gain which ever way you look at it!

Sata 300 mb wont help much on a single hard disk, and yes when the a8v deluxe was designed, there either wasnt sata 300 mb yet or the via chipset used in it was out before sata300mb was, also you dont need any different cables, you just use standard sata cables.

( dont confuse sataII with sata300mb, it are 2 different things, see quote ),

SATA-II does not mean a drive is a 300MB/s or 3Gbp/s external transfer rate drive (see serialata.org for more info). It is one of the optional features which can be used in designing a SATA II drive.
NCQ is not a required feature of SATA-II, but like the external transfer rate, an optional extra (see WD 250GB SATA-II drive without NCQ).
A 16MB cache is not a required feature of SATA-II (see Seagate 7200.9 160GB).
