Hi,
I’ve just bought an RT AX89X but still have poor coverage in the house.
I have a LAN cable to the room that’s bad so I can put in a access point.
Any recommendations on a suitable router to use (assume ASUS mesh would be best)?

While I think @ChrisD.’s response is somewhat unhelpful I would tend to agree that the RT AX89X is overpriced junk designed to appeal to “da Gamerz”.

For that sort of money you could have bought a straightforward router and a couple of WiFi6 access points.

If you can ceiling-mount your access point, the Ubiquiti UniFi U6-LR is pretty much where it’s at at the moment. Or just send the spidery ASUS back to where you got it and replace it with two or more Huawei AX3 devices, one configured in AP mode. They’re an absolute bargain, perform very strongly and you can spend the money you saved on a 10GbE switch if you really need 10 GbE.

And no, they don’t phone home to China.

Thanks
I guess I’m stuck with the ASUS as it’s not faulty just not as good as led to believe in terms of coverage but it is quick when your near it.
Bought it from here and doubt they have it back.
