Asus Armoury Create and Aura RGB lighting - Seems it keeps failing and I then have hoops of pain? Solution? Alternative?

Periodically, randomly, the static colour setting on my Aura fans seems to be lost so it then just stays as the default booting rotating rainbow.

Going into Armoury Crate, into the Aura setup, then seems to complain of "No devices available". Even after reboots.


In the past I seem to recall going through loads of attempts to uninstall and reinstall Armoury Crate before it then worked again.


Is there some alternative? Because I'm getting to the stage where's I'm just going to unplug the Aura RGB head this is so ridiculous, and just turn the fan lights off!

EDIT: While playing around Armoury Crate decided to install stuff, and in doing so gave me basically a virgin install of itself!??! I have to re-enable/install Aura and Fan Expert. But the RGB lights are at least working again.

I normally had issues with the certain AC updates failing on the older versions, however latest version of AC seems a lot better and had no issues so far with a clean install of that, btw I hear you can let Win11 OS control your RGBs if you remove Armoury Crate, not tried that myself yet.

As to fans I prefer to control that from BIOS, safer in regards to the software side of AC if it messes up.

I've had the same issue and a reboot normally fixes it, the soeis a bit hit and miss at times.
 
I haven't installed Armoury Crate and never will. I have read so many problems caused by this buggy piece of software. Instead I turned on dynamic lighting in the bios and use Windows 11 to control RGB and I haven't had any problems yet.

If you dont use AC for anything else other than the RGB lighting, then you can do away with all that bloat and just use the standalone RGB software by ASUS: https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/14Utilities/Lighting_Control_1.07.84_v2.zip

Simple alternative built in rgb in windows 11
Though its very limited

Armoury crate is just a train wreck
Takes so long to install and uninstall
Always gives me issues
And only actually need it for the motherboard oled
Display or would never go near it
