not my words off another web page, but has anyone got a clue if gigabyte are bringing out same sort of thing as just spent loads on new system, chip,mb,and harddrives lol, didnt know there was a limt on the size of hdds ya can use just brought 2 2tb drives for size more then anything, but wanted to run raid 0 with them, was there days try to figure out why i could not install windows 7 to this,at moment using them as single drives just so i can install an os,was going buy an ssd to combat this just to put os on but this would solve my problem.

Disk Unlocker is exclusive (patent pending) software from ASUS that overcomes current operating system limitations that prevent a hard disk drive from utilizing more than 2048GB (also known as 2.2TB). This one-click software solution instantly enables the full capacity of the latest generation of high-density hard drives, making vast amounts of storage space available to ASUS motherboard users.

In the early days of computing, users would never have dreamed of needing more than a few megabytes, let alone a few gigabytes worth of data, and as a result, operating system code was written to reflect this way of thinking. Today, with ever-increasing data densities and hard drive capacities now reaching 3TB and beyond, PC users are still saddled with operating systems unable to use the full capacity of hard drives larger than 2048GB. In other words, storage space can remain unused and inaccessible without a motherboard upgrade.

ASUS Disk Unlocker remedies this problem in a quick and easy fashion, opening up the full capacity of hard drives larger than 2048GB. Disk Unlocker is yet another example of ASUS’ deep commitment to innovation for its customers, allowing them to fully realize the potential of their PCs without the need for an awkward operating system upgrade or costly hardware modification.

The Only Free and Instant Solution for PC Users
ASUS Disk Unlocker is a software utility that enables ASUS motherboards, new or old, to access the full capacity of hard drives with capacities larger than 2048GB. It’s quick to install, requires zero technical knowledge to use, and not only enables current high-capacity hard drives to be fully exploited, but will work with all future hard drive upgrades too
ya can get this for asus motherboads from here http://event.asus.com/mb/2010/Disk_Unlocker/

You have a bios issue maybe? You should be able to still raid them but split it into logical drives I'd have thought.
I've not tried making one enormous system/mbr drive for a long time though. Someone will chime in later.

its not a bios issue as just my mb, its on allboads, i think but dont hold me to that tryed to install these 2 drives as raid on 3 pcs so windows sees it has 4 tb but what ever ya do when ya go to install windows only sees it has 2048GB which is userable, and ya lose 2 tb tryed making partions when installing and you can make a 2048 partion which is userable and the rest of the room becomes unserable in another partion that you can not install to or do anything with this, unless you use as single drives becuse they under the size(but im sure 3tb drives are coming out soon or are all ready out, what use are these unless ya got a asus motherboad and use that tool) but reading into this on other forums and web sites theres loads of peps with same prob and its something to do with bios,s that they come out years ago and had no need for bigger drives has it states in me other post.I think this problem was brought up on bbcs click as well a few months back my brother said he saw somit on there about it.

I see what you mean now, yeah. You probably can't test now but perhaps turning it into a dynamic disc during setup works?

People with 2x 1.5tb disks in raid0 would have hit this months ago too I'd have thought.

ran raid for years, with 4 and 6 hds but they have always been small drives with the price of them, i am fairly good with pcs an i didnt have a clue, but more then anything point of this post is i dont want peps make same mistake as i did, dont know if issue got brought up with 1.5 tb drives, but im sure it should have done,if ya lookin for huge drives, and building ya self a new pc and want to run raid with them becareful !!!!!!!!!!! i think there should be some warning on these 3 tb, drives cuz ya would be gutted spending extra cash on drive and only be able using them as 2tb unless ya got asus mb ya would be sick (lol buyin 2 3tb for raid lol ya would lose 4 tb lol),not to sure if dynamic disc do work cant rember if i tryed it, but was it for few days with no result, next time pc needs renstalling will try, will be good if other motherboad makers follow suit and bring tool out unless someone brings tool out for all makes and models of bords.(to what ive just read you cant boot from GPT disk but dont hold me to that not my words lol)im going have to dig out old asus mb out to see what this asus tool do lol.

I'm using GPT on two of my storage drives, just cos I like using new technology :p.

The only reason the other one isn't GPT is because I used to boot from it and to be honest it'd be nice to have a backup drive to install Windows to if my SSD ever throws a wobbly.
