Need a wee bit of advice please ;)

Just completed my new build and went to install Vista64. Everything was going great until I got to the screen where you need to select the drive to install the OS on.

At bottom of the screen I get a warning message: "this computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk. Ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in the computer's BIOS menu"

If I try to create a new partition then I get this message: "Failed to create a new partition on the selected unused space [error 0x80042453]"

The option to format the partition is greyed out so I am limited in the functions I can perform to, New Partition, Refresh and Load Driver.

I have set the hard drive as the primary boot device. I have set the sata as enhanced and compatible IDE in the BIOS but I can't get any further.

I tried setting the Sata to AHCI and then installed the Intel ICH9 Sata AHCI Controller. The Driver installs and then I am taken back to the screen where you are asked where do yo uwant to install vista but my drive has disappeared. There is then the message: "No drives were found. Click Load driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation."

System:
Asus Maxiums Formula
E8500 with Tuniq Tower
2GB G.Skill PC8500 (one stick)
Samsumg Spinpoint F1 750GB Sata HD
Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer

So what am I doing wrong? Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.:)

I give up

Tried everything I can think of now. Have even been to Mircrosoft's site and tried their recommendations - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927520 -

Bios shows the hd and Windows setup screen shows the hd but I am unable to format or update the drivers for the hd controller.

I'm running bios ver 0802 is flashing the bios to a later version going to help with this problem?

Update: problem now solved. What I had to do was update the bios to version 0907 and also format the hard drives prior to installing the OS. Once that was done Vista recognised the hd and I was able to complete the installation.

Happy days :)
