Asus MeMo Pad 7 low volume issues

Is it normal for the MeMo Pad to have such terrible volume levels when playing media files ie MP3s and video files...or is there something wrong with the one I have ?

I have the ME173X and my daughter has the ME176CX and both are quite loud.

Mine is the ME176CX.....and the sound is as I said pretty low .....maybe I'm not doing something....I'll have a mooch about online ...see if I can solve it .
