Hello,
I have narrowed my search down to these 2 models, whats your opinions?

I maninly use my PC for Internet/Web design/Programming. But want it to be good for games (not bothered about anything older games over a year old), and DIVX playback needs to be ok too.

Any good reviews in English would also be useful.

Thanks

Late

I'm thinking of the same two monitors as well, though as well as Web Design, Internet and Programming - I am also a keen gamer (mostly things like World of Warcraft these days).

Not *that* much is known about the Asus yet. The Samsung is reported to have a bit of back light bleed. I suspect most 22" models may suffer to varying degrees from this.

From what we know the Samsung has a better physical body, it has both vertical adjustment and a swivel base. IMO the Samsung also look slightly better of the two (I have seen both of them physically).

Also if you are a bit of a brand whore Samsung most definitely have the better name in the monitor market.

I personally chose the Asus over the Samsung but then got sick of waiting for stock and so picked up the Samsung. Its also a Xmas present so I cant use it yet or tell you how good (or not) it is :p

I take it you didn't get it from OcUK as theirs is £249.99
(£293.74 in vat)

Correct, i did actually order it from OCuk first thing this morning then i read that they hadnt got them in stock even though it said they were. I then noticed another shop got them in this morning so i rang ocuk to check on stock and they said they were maybe getting 90 more later today. I wanted it tomorrow so iwent with the other place and just happened to save £20 in the process.

so why the hell are OcUK claiming to have stock if they haven't , I was about to place a £1,000+ order with them and now I can't trust if they have the bits i want in stock or not.

what gives?

Mate had the same problem, they stated they had the EVGA 680i in stock but didnt really so his order was some what later than expected, so HE ended up paying an extra £10 for delivery because of them.

Only a guess but i'd say something to do with their new web site? But in that case they have aweful stock control as things should only appear in stock when they arrive rather than when they *hope* they will arrive.

Not been impressed of late, also had some items turn up with the WORST packaging ever. Including £300 worth of ram fallen out of its packaging ratteling around at the bottom of a box.

man i'm really concerned now, i was just about to click 'confirm order' on £1,212.45 and now I'm not sure.

If you can't trust the stuff is in stock and if the packaging is as poor as you say it's a lot of money i'm spending to take the risk?

does anyone else have any input on if they would press 'Confirm'

To be fair I have ordered a lot from OCUK and only been disapointed once (DOA Mobo from their clearance section). I am only relating my mates experiance who ordered £1200 worth just over a week ago now.

OCUK are a very large successful company there is no real reason not to trust them, everybody has had bad experiance with every company ever all your hear about are the bad things tho :)

I have ordered a LOT from OCUK as well and I'll give it to ya straight

they are not the cheapest

but they are usually very fast and they have aways sorted out any problems - i spent 600quid with them a few weeks back soley because they could get my order out the next day (for a saturday) whereas a cheaper competitor couldnt do it til the wednesday. any problems and you will usually get a decent and quick reply.

Well I bit the bullet and ordered, I could have saved £30.00+ going else where but the competitor couldn't deliver until 5th Jan! so no chance of ordering with them!

HOWEVER, I got an email today saying they won't deliver to my work address because i have no order history with them!

In the end I had to pay another £15.00 to have it delivered saturday!

So going with OcUK has meant I've paid £45.00 more than buying else where plus I won't get my bits wednesday nor to the address of my choice!

I'll reserve my final verdict for saturday, if I get my bits delivered all present and correct and in good condition!

I didn't have any of this problem with a well know competitor company when buying my memory, glad OcUK didn't have in stock any Team memory, not only is it being delivered to the address of my choice, I save 21% VAT on the order.

None of this paying VAT first then having to claim it back!, it's just a shame all they sell is memory else I might have bought everyhting from them and saved a fortune in the process.

oh well , hope saturday comes quick this week, can't wait :D

When I spoke with sales today they never said they couldn't ship my order because it wasn't in stock so i guess it is ;)
