Asus MW221U Volume control

Hi,
What is the deal with the volume control buttons, sometimes it switches to brightness control and I have to go through the menu and change the volume there. Is there some sort of setting to default it to volume only?

Press <- to open the volume control then <- and +> to adjust.

Press +> to open the brightness control then <- and +> to adjust.
