Prices have risen sharply due to plummeting pound value and also rising cost of memory. It really sucks but I guess it does constitute as quite a deal to get some cards back close to pre-GBP-nosedive pricing.

I know why the prices have risen, but all I care about is the price I end up paying. I have no control over the £ to $ rate, or the factors such as the current memory "shortage", but I do have control over what I decide to spend my money on, so when an item goes above what I deem to be value for money, I don't buy.

Prices will be set by what people will spend, sooner or later if demand falls prices will! No doubt this weekend offer is just to boost some sales so the less people spend the more competitive the market will need to be.
Ultimately if we start seeing the companies profits dive (Nvidia etc) or even move to a loss then you know that the pricing is real competitive.

It's funny how over a year ago my 1070 was cheaper than it is now, price gouging at it's finest because of no competition.

Used 980Ti is by far the best bang for buck just now, dunno availability, I got 2x EVGA Hybrid 980ti's for the current price of a 1080.

Yet when I switched from 2x980Ti's to a 1080 I got an overall better gaming experience due to SLi quality tanking. To each their own.

im starting to think the same way, after 20yrs of pc gaming, i think its time to walk back to consoles. all this price gougin you cant blame companies as we would all do the same. pc market has changed for ever thanks to mining, and nvidia and AMD are filling their boots, bringing out cards with intention for good mining.
i gave my r9 390 to my son as he couldnt afford a gpu, in return i got his hd7950(ouch)m i need a new gpu, but prices are insane, and with new xbox about to deliver 4k native, i know where i might go, its sad for sure
