I have a ASUS P5N-E SLI board and I have a problem with my 2 1gb RAM sticks.
The board has 4 memory banks 2 yellow and 2 black. The only way I can get it to boot is by putting the sticks in bank 1,2 (yellow and black) which isnt dual channel. If I try for dual channel I get one long beep error. Any ideas why Im getting this error?

So if i read correct; you've tried both sticks in the one slot on there todd and each booted ok, correct? Somethings up with the mobo or some BIOS settings are wrong.

At the moment I have em both in banks 1 and 2. 3 and 4 dont seem to work together. I have cleared the CMOS, swapped sticks around. Is there a way I can check if its the board?

It's quite common for one of the four slots on an ASUS P5N-E SLi board to be non-functional. Check them all with just one stick, if that works, then populate them all and remove them one at a time until you find the bad one.

You may also need a voltage boost to get them working.

Ok, I have tried both sticks in banks 3 and 4 and it doesnt post, I get a long beep. So I booted with one stick in bank 1 and upped the ram voltage to 2.3, rebooted with one in bank 3 and I get the same problem. Should I increase the voltage a bit more or settle with the fact that my 2 ram banks are dead?

no - don't go over 2.2V - it's not necessary. It looks very much like your board is duff. Sorry.
