Hi All,

Just checking around with people to see if they have had issues when loading the Drivers for the Asus P6X58D-E Intel X58

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-399-AS&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1692

I am intending to buy one and a mate at work has recently bought one after seeing the recommendations on the site for the board. Installing it and booting it up held no problems, but when he tried to load the drivers from the disk the PC start failing and he had to reformat and start from scratch.

He also noted that the 'express gate' program also crashed during boot up in after he installed the drivers.

If any one has had similar issues with this motherboard or any other new builds? If so how was it overcome?

Cheers
Mark

i didn't use the supplied Installation DVD to install any drivers, simply downloaded what I needed from the Asus/Intel/Marvell websites and had no problems installing any drivers.

I have no need for Expresss Gate so have it disabled...

I did the same as jbloggs, fresh copy of windows 7, then downloaded the newest drivers and bios from the Asus and intel website. Never installed anything from the DVD that came with the motherboard as the drivers were all old.
Only thing you really need are the Asus Realtek drivers (for the onboard 8 channel HD sound, which is actually very good and **** over my x-fi plat), then the intel/marvel drivers for the sata controllers.
You can install the Asus Probe/EPU/AI Suite software if you want, but you won't use them much if at all. Asus Update is useful in that you can flash/backup your bios from windows, but thats about it.

Not recommended that you update your BIOS via Windows, much better to use Asus EZ Flash 2 utility...

True say, Asus and bad bios flashes...common problem lol. Although it has that CrashFree Bios stuff but it doesn't always kick in when you need it to and then can end up with an expensive door stop :(
