 I hope you can help as I am pulling my hair out.

I need to install Windows 7 64bit on the above motherboard but when it asks for the raid driver its not finding anything or finding a drive but then windows is saying no. We have come to the conclusion that its one of the first Win 7 discs that was released and its not up to date on the new raid drivers.

I have a 2tb HDD and a 60gb SSD so the SSD acts as a cache drive. I can install in non raid ok but cant then turn on the raid.... just crashes and refuses to boot up. Must have tired installing the OS 4/5 times on Saturday. :(

Any ideas?

You should find the raid driver on the installation disk supplied with the board or Asus website.

When it asks for the driver you swap the disks over and point it in the direction of the driver.

Tried that mate, wont have any of it. We can find the raid drivers on the motherboard disk (around 15 different ones) and have tried them all but its as if the version of software on the windows 7 disc is that old its not recognising the up to date drivers on the motherboard disc so seeing them as non signed drivers... Just keeps rejecting any of them... that's all we can think of.

Short of buying a new (latest) windows 7 disk I don't know what else to try. Btw, its Dad's PC and he wont want Windows 8, that's for sure. ;)

You only have two drives of massively different size but want RAID on? What mode are you wanting to use?

I've got the WS version of this board and always put RAID on before installing the OS, never had any problems.

Yes, to have the drives running in Intel® Smart Response Technology, you need the drives running in raid.

This is the problem, we are trying to get the windows disc to see the raid driver but the windows disc is sticking two fingers up at us and saying no, don't recognise that raid driver. We have even been to the Asus website and downloaded the latest raid drive.
The only way we have managed to get windows to install is by installing it in non raid format. When we install the drivers (USB3, HD Graphics and so on) from the ASUS disk all is fine until we go to install the Intel drivers and that when asked to reboot the PC just wont have any of it and we have to format and try again.

Issue resolved. Installed a 32bit driver and windows installed ok.

Thanks for your help/input guys. :)
