I've had my ROG Swift for a good few years now and I'm feeling for something new, an upgrade seeing as I now have SLI 1080's.

Just wanted to ask people's opinions on the 3440x1440 resolution and the monitor itself, Is it worth it?

Any major problems IPS glow, bleed etc?

Has anyone gone from an ROG swift to the Asus monitor. Noticed much from the 144-100hz refresh drop as I do like my 144hz but I feel I could easily take 100hz native.

Anyone had any major regrets from this resolution or loved it?

I have 2 GTX 1080's so power wise I will be fine to push those higher settings and frames.

Is this the better overall monitor over say the Acer X34 which I beleive had more problems.

Thanks guys :)

I did have a 144Hz monitor briefly before getting the X34, can't say I noticed any difference, but then I wasn't driving beyond 100FPS very much. Even with 1080 SLI you're not going to be butting up against the 144FPS ceiling all the time (and not at all with AAA titles maxed out), so overall I would say the difference is negligible. Many people say they don't notice the difference between 100 and 144, but some say they do... largely subjective overall I think, but I suspect there's a psychological element at play also. I wonder in a blind test how easy it would be to spot. You'll only know for sure if you try it out.

As for the X34 vs the PG348Q, I wouldn't say the Asus is worth the higher price tag. The newer revision of the X34 (X34A) is said to be slightly improved in the QC department, and that was really the only thing that separated them... but given how few of the PG348Q have been sold vs the X34, I think that has skewed things significantly. They both use identical panels at the end of the day. Personally, I prefer the X34 because of the LED's underneath... just that little something extra which adds to the experience that the Asus is lacking... plus it's more expensive for no good reason that I can see.

Coming from the Swift you will notice an improvement in colours and the lack of any gamma shift that you've probably grown accustom to on the Swift by now. That said, IPS panels do often suffer with some glow and bleed, but it's very much a lottery as to how bad it will be. If it's unacceptably horrendous you can always return of course. Overall though, it's well worth it... 21:9 is fantastic, I could never go back to 16:9 now.

Thanks :). Just bought one. Will be here tomorrow.

Was playing overwatch lastnight at 90fps honestly couldnt tell a huge difference between that and 144 and I think the 21:9 will far outweight it for games.

Its something im sure I can get used to pretty easily.

I'll give my opinion tomorrow hopefully if all is well. I can always return if I dont like it or not as good as I thought.

Managed to grab one for £999 so happy enough with that price.

I went from the Swift to the X34 and don't regret the move one bit. The Ultrawide screen is a much better thing than the difference between 100hz and 144hz.

Just to warn you though, Overwatch is one of the very few games I've come across that don't support 21:9 format displays. Blizzards stance is that the 21:9 format gives an unfair advantage so won't patch in support which I think is complete rubbish, to me a 100hz+ display makes far more of a difference.

Thanks for the reply :). I'm really looking forward to its arrival tomorrow :D. Never used a 21:9 before. From pics really does look very nice indeed!

That is unfortunate but it's not going to put me off buying the monitor. The game still plays fantastic on a 1440p 100hz display and there are many many other games I am looking forward to playing with the 21:9 ratio.

My swift is showing her age now. Few accidental chips out the screen and a few re-occurring stuck pixels. Time to upgrade I think.

I went from the Swift to the x34 and don't regret it in the slighest.

Blizz are currently 'in talks' regarding 21:9 can't see why we can't have it they allowed you to run it at that res in the beta.

Thats good then. Hopefully will have 21:9 support as I think that would be pretty damn epic.

Nice 21:9 is a lovely ratio in itself, that plus g-sync and 100hz is amazing.

Moniter in itself is similar to the Acer. Really which in you prefer aesthetically as both have had their issues. I had to send back my first two pg348qs while brother got perfect x34 first time around so guess point I am trying to say, the acer x34 is also an amazing moniter, I think it just gets flack seemingly more often as it sells much more. Though you made the right choice I say, I love my underglow rog eye :p

But in all aside from few minor games get ready for some epic gaming. Aside from settings in some titles here and there which are too demanding for a pair of 1080s fully cranked, they will pretty much do high / ultra in most cases no bother. Have fun, but this time tommorow you will definately be keeping it :D

I briefly had the 144hz rog swift, hated the TN, its horrible. Got the PG348Q, its sheer awesomeness, the stand is a work of art, the light adds a little atmosphere and the stand itself it built like a bulldozer. The QC on the Asus is perfect, I have zero dead pixels, no 'lines' clocks to 100hz solid and the build quality of the screens bezel is superb, you pay more for this however.

There will be people coming out with the pish about the X34 selling more, which is true, but there are no PG348Q's to sell, maybe this is why it's selling more, the obvious is sometimes clear as mud for some.

Back to the monitor, the panels are the same but the monitors are quite different... cars have 4 wheels, houses have kitchens, people have the same internals, but we and they are all very different. If you look at some of the tech reviews (especially the readings and measurements), the PG348Q is the best monitor, if you can find one snap it up. Otherwise the X34/X34A/X34 whatever (there's been that many revisons to get it right) then this is a good choice too.

Thanks for all the replies guys :). Mine has been shipped and will be with me tomorrow. Really looking forward to getting my hands on it now and fingers crossed I get a good one with no pixel problems.

Cannot wait to get it setup and get it running this time tomorrow! :D

I'm sure you will, prepare yourself for the sheer size of 21:9. I recommend an empty brown bag next to you once you have it on your desk, as there is a very high risk of hyperventilation lol.

Enjoy it.

I don't think I'm alone in that I would have bought the PG348Q instead of the X34 if both were available at the same time.

I had mine for 3 months before the first Asus stocks hit the market and it continues to be readily available unlike the Asus so it's easy to see why it sells more after all you can only buy what's available.

It will be here at about 4pm today. Looking forward to it for sure :)

I had a thought though. Whats the chances of seeing a decent 3440x1440 144hz display anytime soon?

Seeing as the new GPU's are the new DP 1.3.
