Hi guys,

My computer seems to take a long time to get past 'initialising usb devices' or some similar message when i i boot it up.

It shows processor speed memory etc straight away, but seems to hang on detecting usb, my keyboard doesnt seem to come on for a good 10 - 15 seconds where it used to be instant on my old motherboard.

Is there a known issue with this and can it be resolved?

Also has anyone actually got a headset to work with the onboard sound on this asus pk5 premium and i plug it in but never works, sound through speakers is fine though and headset works on another system.

I had issues getting a USB headset to work on my P5K.

I posted about it HERE.

I didn't install Vista SP1 Beta as I would prefer to wait for the full public release, but what I did do was update Vista as much as I could manually.

The "hotfix" from MS mentioned in the thread linked to above only seemed to work for a few boot ups of the PC.

Try plugging it into one of the rear USB ports directly into the motherboard. Mine now works if I do that but for some strange reason won't work if I plug it into one of the front panel USB ports, I'm using an old Logitech USB headset.

Ah thanks for response i wasnt too clear in first post it was kinda late lol :)

I dont use usb headset i have a normal one. The usb ports on front of case are working fine but the front audio and back audio wont work with headphones for some reason.

The usb problem is when computer is starting up it gets stuck initialising usb for a while, adding like 15 secs to my boot. Then has some other boot screen that seems to take an age aswell.

Cheers man i will try it. Not using razer mouse i gave the diamondback to my g/f in favour of a 3.0 but i am using a reclusa keyboard that is razer/microsoft. There is also some jmicron screen that it sits on too whilst booting up, can that be disabled? :>

Will try your suggestions out thanks man.
