ASUS PRIME B550M-A (WI-FI) Rear USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports

I have recently bought a CF TYpe B card reader for my camera. The reader is rated at 10gbps and the car is rates at 1700MB/s. Now I appreciate I will probably never get those speeds.

However when the card is plugges into a std USB 3 port I get about 650MB/s but when I plug it into the Gen 2 port I only get 160MB/s

Is this a common problem and is there a fix?

Do you know if they are provided directly by CPU/chipset, or via a third party controller?

I think I have discovered the problem. Its the cable is not up to spec, Found a nice thick short USB 3 A to C and am now getting 985MB/s.

So off to buy a longer new cable
