ASUS PRIME H310-PLUS R2.0 memory problem

Asus Prime H310-Plus R2.0 Intel H310 (Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX Motherboardmotherboard will only boot up with 1 stick of memory. id I try 2 in any combination I just get a nice black screen to stare at. tried each stick as an individual and both work fine on their own. add second stick in and nada.

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-21300C16 2666MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2A26 that's the memory I have.

so far I've tried enabling xmp mode and even though it detects and sets the timing and such correctly still no go with 2 sticks.

any suggestions ?

Did you try clearing the CMOS after the second stick was installed?

It sounds like something is broken, maybe the motherboard's second DIMM slot. Was it purchased brand new?

yes I've tried resetting the cmos, and again yes brand new from overclockers.
