So anyways got fed up of waiting for the RMA on my sabertooth (managed 5 days) and bought an asus sabertooth black edition for £200 posted.

Plugged it all in and switched it on. Getting an 00 on the motherboard.
The keyboard doesn't light up.

Tried booting with just one stick of memory.
The cpu doesn't seem to be Heating up much either.

I remember having to update the bios to get my sabertooth to boot with my 980. Surely this wont be needed with the black edition?

Maybe it does need a BIOS update as it does pre date the GTX980 release.

You can update the BIOS via USB thingy on the rear even without a CPU installed.

Just done used the memory upgrade trick. no post still.

I am right in thinking that by the CPU there is an 8 pin and a 4 pin connector, I only need the 8 pin right?

I heard the 4pin is needed for extra power for SLI.

Neither of my PSU's have a 4 pin connector on them one was bought a few weeks ago?

From experience with other boards with two 8pin or 8pin and 4pin ATX, you only ever needed to plug in one.

Disconnect all drives, remove all but one stick of RAM (try different slots also).

Does the GFX card have power power connectors in?

00 is actually normal operation and what you would expect to see once correctly booted in windows.

So im not sure whats going on there.

If less RAM and no drives dont work then the next thing to do i guess is check the socket for damaged pins.

Also ensure the CPU cooler is plugged into the CPU fan header (in case that some how prevents it from booting)

Also check that your cpu cooler isn't too tight, sometimes you can warp the board slightly/enough to cause 00 error

The 4 pin is not for sli, it is to spread the load on the vrm phases.

tried loosening cpu. Even tried taking the CPU out of the board and booting it, the board seems to act the same, Starting to think it might be a dead cpu? fml

The code on mine when up and running is AA,have you tried a different videocard at all.
From what I can tell the 00 code is somit to do with the cpu.

Reason I ask is my old rampage extreme when I had a gtx 690 it would not boot at all until I put in a older videocard then it booted, put the 690 in and all was good.
