Right guys, first problem encountered :(

Popped in the 290X and fired up and no probs to speak of (2 black screens but nothing to worry about). I install the AMD drivers and the screen flickered badly and black screened after a couple of seconds. Restarted and the same again. I couldn't see anything, so I connected my Asus 1080P monitor as well and so far so good, I change the display to 1080P on the Swift and unplug the 1080P and the Swift flickers badly and a couple of seconds later, black screen.

How do I set the screen refresh rate in the CCC please? I can't see it and even though I have set it to 60Hz for now in the desktop setting, every time I unplug the asus, flicker to a black screen.

Help please.

Working at 60Hz, so will use that for now till someone knows what I need to do. No black screens since setting 60Hz, so might have been linked to the refresh rate.

CCC then desktop properties and select 120hz. I heard that 1440p 120hz was ok on the swift. I could be wrong but that would be my first port of call.

For some reason, it doesn't like 120Hz either. I knew it wouldn't take 144Hz beforehand but I have 60Hz working fine, so no worries. I could try to go up in increments but for now, I will accept 60Hz. Thanks for the info :)

Found this on another site.

For anyone finding this thread with google, I have a XFX reference 290x with a Rog Swift. Using the display port cable that was included with the monitor, I would get flickering/black screens above 85 Hz. Using this $10 cable, I am able to hit 120 Hz. 144 Hz still has massive flickering but I am happy at 120 Hz.

Could be worth trying a different cable.

In the same thread others are using 290's and 295 at 120hz and 144hz no problem. It's a pretty weird situation where some work fine and others have problems.

Cheers but the cable worked fine on the Titans @ 144Hz but not to worry, it is only a stop gap card till something bigger and it won't stop me having some fun :)

First impressions are the noise (or lack of it), 35C idle and 72C after running the TR bench. Not too bad at all.

More I hear about the Swift the more of a joke it sounds like. I remember reading about some issue a while ago that I'm fairly sure was a different issue to this high hz flickering. Then Anandtech say it flickers in lower hz/fps modes under g-sync. After this thread I searched flickering/144hz and it seems loads of Nvidia and AMD users are getting it. Most got screens replaced and problem went away with the same cable and gpus as before so it's a screen fault. They seem to have really poor quality control, multiple problems all while charging a massive premium. :(

Find the BenQ price pretty ridiculous though it seems to have a few more features to me, the easy to use/see buttons is something most screens should have had for ages. When I game in the dark room and need to change something on basically every monitor I've ever had it's a nightmare but my Samsungs touch sensitive non buttons are the worst yet. That they can charge what is easily twice what these screens are worth, making them ultra premium versions of the screens, yet have so many problems is ridiculous.

Nope.

But the screen had been perfect on the Titans, so not sure what you are getting at? I can live with it for now but it isn't the screen at fault in this instance.
