ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q - what to look out for upon delivery and setup?

It was ghastly , the smearing was really bad and the colours were almost like blobs of colour, it was an AGON 35" G-Sync, so never again for me lol

Loads of review sites say these high-refresh VA monitors are great for gaming and only a few go into the issue of ghosting with any great depth. I only hope the 31.5" panel is better than the 35" one you tried, or that I'm not bothered by it.

The cynic in me suggests I'll end up having to make the choice between poor-quality motion and IPS glow/bleed, and end up satisfied with neither.

But lol I may have just ended up with a bad VA , as far as I know VA Panels are better than they used to be , fingers crossed :)

But then when I got my 27" swift TN Panel ( B-Grade half price ) I was told..dont get it its a bad move, yet its been perfect :)

Hi all, the missus took delivery.

Box looks OK, I cannot convince myself as to if one side looks like it has been opened or not, the security tape looks looser than one side. However can this tape be removed and reapplied and look unbroken?

Opinions on this box condition and if brand new and never opened? I have not opened the box yet myself.

Looks okay to me, if the security tape had been removed it would have taken some of the packaging with it. The monitor inside will be well protected.

My monitor box was selotaped shut and looked a tiny little bit rough around the edges. Inside, everything was perfectly well packaged in sealed bags.

would hardly complain that sufficient packaging is used to protect the item in transit, its got enough problems with quality of bleed once its out of the box, would damaged screens due to poor packaging be of benefit to anyone?

Thanks for the replies, had it set up around 5 days now. All parts looked brand new and sealed.

I don't notice anything in normal usage or when gaming. My room is always well lit.

I have done a few tests though checking for IPS glow / backlight bleed, how does this look with all lights off? (centre monitor obviously :))

The camera makes it look a lot worse than what I can actually see with my eyes, I barely see it even when dark. Also I have my brightness quite high!

A camera will always make bleed/glow look a million times worse.
I sat in a dark room with an LG 32GK850F to allow my eyes to acclimate to the dark room, still could see no bleeding.
Took a photo...and wow it makes it look terrible. But I don't look at the panel at a few frames a minute through a camera with long exposure hah
