ASUS RT-N66U Problem??

Hi,

Not sure how to put this so will try and explain:

My internet connection will randomly start feeling sluggish/ not loading videos and the thinkbroadband graph will be all blue/green. Running a traceroute shows the average ping hitting 1000ms+. Once restarted everything is back to normal.
Also downloading files from google drive (around 50GB) causes this problem.

Thought it was a problem with VM but have tried connecting directly to the SH downloading from google drive and no problems (only for a couple of hours as is a shared internet connection)

Router is running the latest Merlin firmware, have done a 30/30 reset but still have the problem. No settings have been changed and QoS is disabled.

Anyone have any ideas what could be the problem?

Mine has been doing the same. I disabled the wifi and fitted an AP. TL-WA701ND running open wrt. Instant difference. Then I started to get problems again. I borrow a mates router to test and its got to be mine. Going to go to the purple and blue high street pc show we all hate and get one today. Will report back.

tried a spare TP-Link router and up to now no problems, thought it was a setting in the router but everything is factory settings apart from wifi passkey.

Not sure if I will be able to RMA the router with the above problem but will contact OCUK tomorrow see what they say.

1 thing though I will be changing the router as this is the second RT-N66U that has broke on me.

Just finished setting mine up

Out of box setup
Manual download of FW and update
Tested for an hour huge difference
Flashed to Merlin Forked
Software reboot and restore
Power cycle and restore again
Reconfigure and reboot

WOW it's doing exactly what everyone said it does

Had to be faulty

Internet is sluggish on both wired & wireless until the router is restarted otherwise works ok until the above starts.

Confused, as I connected the Asus router back up tonight nothing changed and download about 60GB of files from google drive with no problems. :confused:
