Asus Striker 2 Extreme

Well its an Nvidia chipest :p There are many many horrer stoys on xtremesystems about the EVGA board, There are a few posts that would show it can be a good board but it looks like another predicitable Nfail chipset on the whole, All Striker board have been turd when compaired to proper Intel chipset boards tbh.

The NF2/3/4 were all King of OC on AMD, the NF5 was ok but not as good as others.

The NF6/780 were buggy and so far the NF790 seems good.

Have a good read on XS.

Erm...you must visit a different XS then, the one I go to shows the Striker 2 extreme and the evga 790i boards doing very well indeed.

Talking to Smirnoff :).

I can understand peoples issues with Nforce chipsets, I had a couple of the 680i boards go down myself but this is a totally new generation and genuinely seems awesome, just a shame DDR3's still a bit pricey.

I work for a large pc etailor and RMA motherboards pile look something like this, 680i 780i AMD SLI, 680i, 680i, 680i 780i, 780i, X38, P35, 680i, 780i ect ect. It speaks volumes about the whole Nfail chipset range :) The first 790i boards are on there way back as we speak lol. You may get a good board or a bad one, Its easy to think the range is good from your experance of one board but i have experance of testing many of the blasted things.

Q6600 @3.6GHz
4Gb Corsair XMS3 1333MHz
Asus Striker 2 Extreme (Nvidia 790i Ultra)
Gainward Bliss 8800GTX
Creative X-Fi
2 X WD Raptor RAID 0
Antec Quattro 850W

So Far so good - more tinkering tonight :D

Seems much quicker at stock speeds than my last board (Asus Striker Extreme - 680i SLi) and the BIOS is an overclocker's dream.

MUCH better laid out than the original Striker - Asus have moved the 24 pin power connector away from the IDE port - altogether, easier to put together.

Most importantly it seems to run much cooler.

Oh, and the Fusion water block is a doddle and comes bundled with lots of clips and hose adaptors - exactly the kind of useful extras you'd expect from any flagship product.

AND :D the LCD poster screen is now a portable addition rather than the old Striker having it in the I/0 shield :D

Its a mint board had mine for a while now ive hit 3.75ghz on q6600 seems stable 19420 3d06 cant really fault it dont no why peeps **** em off at all:confused:
