Asus Strix 2080 Ti availability

Hi everyone,

I've been wanting to buy a Strix 2080 Ti since announcement. I have preorders with multiple retailers. Haven't heard a single piece of news about this card's availability for months. I continue to see videos and pictures of builds sporting this card. How are people getting their hands on it? Will it ever become generally available?

Any tips appreciated.

I have an Asus mobo and would rather not have to deal with yet another piece of software for RGB and the like. Moreover, the Strix is supposed to have the best thermal performance. If you're spending over a grand for a graphics card, you might as well go for the best.

Well it's your money of course, but at the end of the day you will be paying three figures for RGB. Thermals will be ballpark the same as other 3-fan cards. Overall in-game performance, the same.

Problem is, right now when they do dribble into stock you'll be paying even more. Forget about the strix, I did, I got the trio x and it's awesome.

The actual problem is location. I was lucky to get a strix 2080ti oc from stock a few weeks ago but I’ve not seen any others available in the UK since.
I’m currently staying in the Monkok district of Hong Kong and there’s literally dozens of stores with the same cards on the shelf for roughly £1300 in our money. I’m guessing Asian firms like Asus arnt making the UK market a priority.

EVGA FTW3 is just as good in the thermal department and EVGA are far better to deal with when it comes to warranty.

I don't know why you guys are so salty. Out of all brands, the Strix edition is the best per GamersNexus and others. It also fits quite nicely within my existing system. Nothing is wrong with that. Your dismissive and scornful posts are uncalled for.

As for pricing, it's a free market. Some of us are willing to pay a premium for a better product. Good luck trying to mount a socialist revolution in the computer hardware market place. Sooner or later, I'll be gaming at 1440P/144Hz while you helplessly continue to lament market prices.

I agree that it is worth paying extra for a better product but that is not the Asus Strix 2080 Ti, it is just overpriced compared to other 2080 Ti cards and a fairer price would be nearer £1300.

I sort of agree with the OP. If your the sort of person who can afford the higher end then you may as well get the exact product that you want. If the RGB stuff is your thing it really is better executed under one brand if possible.
I’ve personally had much better OCing experances with Asus strix cards, that’s just how it is.
As for pricing yes the Strix cards are a bit expensive but there are a lot of people globally who can afford it. As mentioned in my previous comment I’m in HK for the next couple of weeks. There are huge shopping malls here dedicated to tech sellers packed solid with customers and their cash. It’s been a big eye opener, the UK isn’t where the action is.
If you want a Strix 2080ti you’ve gotta wait it out or find a Asia/USA store willing to post overseas.

Asus pricing is what people don't like as it is a total joke.

I have seen Asus sell reference NVidia cards at higher prices than anyone else including direct from NVidia.

What do you get from Asus for this added tax, I don't know as it is definitely not the warranty which is awful.

NVidia have a bad rep for high prices and Asus charge even more for the same thing.

OP if you get an Asus Strix 2080 Ti and put a waterblock on it, see how you get on if you have to RMA it.

The problem is that what you're saying seems to give the greenlight to exorbitant pricing... the Strix 2080Ti is not £500 better than the cheapest 2080Tis. It simply isn't when their in-game performance will be broadly identical and imperceptible (outside of noise levels and temps perhaps, although temps will still be well within range). Yet you're suggesting this doesn't at all matter if you can afford it. Which is silly and nonsensical. Where does that line of thinking end? When does it become TOO expensive? The answer to that will be different for everyone. It's not an argument, it's actually a rather dangerous mindset which benefits no one in the grand scheme of things... not even Nvidia or AIBs, as the continual ratcheting up of prices will backfire on them eventually. You could argue it has already for that matter.
