Hi All,

Just received the Asus strix vega 56 OC - upon install and reboot I get windows automatic repair come up and then a blank screen.

Every reboot the same, as though it can not find windows.

When I put the old amd r9 fury back in - all is well and windows returns.

Is the card FUBAR from stock or am i missing a trick

Most likely your power supply (or if it has split rails how you are powering the card) is insufficient for the higher power draw of the vega card

What driver did you use by the way?

Did you download the driver from AMD and manually install it? Windows 10 have been having weird/random issues for the past 2 months or so.

First dowload new drivers, download and install DisplayDriverUninstaller, boot in safe mode, clean all amd entries with DDU, take network cable out, restart and install the drivers you already downloaded then plug your network back in.
If you dont unplug the network cable Windows has the chance to mess up your installation.

Hey thanks for the advice. Issue is i can not even boot into safe mode...no options, tried the hard reset trick, tried win 10 boot usb, nothing works when that card is installed

You haven't got some overclocking software kicking in at Windows boot have you? I had an issue where I had set afterburner to an unsustainable clock and to load from boot. Had to hold down a function key to bypass it, then it booted fine.

Go into update&recovery section of windows settings, you have recovery on left then advanced startup, you take it from there

Guys, my thanks to all, like an idiot I returned the card thinking it was unserviceable and got a replacement. the replacement did exactly the same. I then saw onm here the idea to flash my MOBO. whilst it still went to recovery, it actually did something and rebooted into windows and now all is well. Again thanks for all the help - anyone with the same issue.....don't be an idiot like me.....flash your MOBO!!

Just out of curiosity mate, what mobo required the bios flash to use a vega? Mine is 7 years old, got a atikmdag error first and only thing I did was reinstall windows without the internet to get it working :)
