hi there,
after some help, i have a asus x99-s motherboard and the battery has been changed on motherboard, but i keep getting a issue where randomly the pc will stop responding in the middle of something.
other than the mouse will move but you can't open any programs etc, so then you have to hold down the power button to switch it off, now everytime this happens when the pc goes to reboot it comes up with the (overclocking failed message) and to reset the settings, if i set it to default the next time it does what i said above (overclocking failed message) the bios settings are no longer the default settings and are now the settings i had before.
its also the fact sometimes it does the issue more often then it could be a week before it does it again

any help greatly appreciated.

Is there a clear CMOS or reset CMOS jumper/button on the motherboard? Maybe you have to do that as well as reset to default within the bios page, after changing a battery.

Did you check in Event Viewer to see if the system is recording any errors?

(Click start -> type "eventvwr" -> press enter).

Look at the system logs and see if you are getting any WHEA error logs.
Check to see if there's any logs for your hard drives not responding.

Try also running the windows memory diagnostic, this will make sure your ram is working correctly.

(Click start -> type "Windows Memory Diagnostic" -> Select it from the list).
