Asking for a friend who has this board with a sandybridge processor... not sure of the chip...

Would he be able to upgrade from a sandybridge processor to a haswell-e while keeping the same board and RAM etc? Say the 5820k?

Would it even be worth doing?

I mean they are the same socket type, sorry if this is a dumb question...

haswell e is the new 2011 v3 socket standard, you need a board with a compatible said socket and it also requires ddr4 ram support which isn't supported by that board. So fraid not
