Asus Xonar D1 vs Xonar D2X?

I own the xonar dx (bought around last christmas) and after downloading the latest software from Asus website it worked perfectly right out of the box (running windows 7 64bit). Sound quality is decent too, I get a slight hiss from my front headphone socket but it doesn't bother me. No problems with hissing through the speakers though.

I got the same driver, and it worked awfully....
I could try again - but why do so, when the uni driver works much better and stable?
+ is updated in 2012, rather than being last updated in 2011/2010 (silly asus)

Definitely no reason to use the Asus ones if you've had trouble with them. Really depends on the rest of the components it seems, as some people get nothing but trouble. Others get no trouble at all. Having owned three different Xonar's, I've never had an issue with Asus' own drivers. When it comes to useless drivers Creative are just as bad, if not worse. To be fair to Asus though, at least they haven't threatened Brainbit with legal action because he is modifying their drivers, which is what Creative tried to do to Daniel K when he started releasing modified Creative drivers.

That's a very 'Apple move' by creative.
They should realize they suck in providing drivers. If i was the manufacturer i would thank them, test it, and release it officially.

Anyway, these days corporate companies are disgusting with their actions.

As for official drivers, i had no problems when my old d1 on xp or w7 32bit, but for some reason the dx on w7 64bit. The software that came with the cd wasn't working at all. The xonar software wasn't responding.
I then went to their site, grabbed the latest one, and that one was even worse.
I was on the verge of buying another card, and returning it, till i googled and found the unified drivers.
I will be documenting this on YouTube. Not the first, nor the last video I'll be putting up on asus's shocking service or drivers....
Long story short, avoid asus.

And in saying that after having, all my life, had an asus motherboard, and for over 3 yrs their laptops, screens etc.
I won't ever recommend them anyone.
Even their sabertooth software is a failure of a job.
I feel sorry for the actual hardware engineers at asus. As I'm sure they know as well as us that their software implementation is terrible.
