Got a new PC with this in. No idea what it is or how it works, all I know is that I don't have sound, through speakers nor headphones. Windows Media Player refuses to play anything despite everything saying it's supposed to be working. I don't know what this is and why it's even in my PC, I really don't know much, scratch that, anything about sound cards. How can I get my sound working?

So you connected the speakers to the sound card and heard nothing?,and you did the same with headphones but still no sound correct? did you double check all connections?. Have you disabled the motherboard onboard sound in the BIOS?. Sometimes in transit ( pc tower being moved around) can dilodge the card from its port, did you check inside the pc to see if the card has come loose?.

Is the onboard sound on your motherboard disabled, and is the D2X showing up in device manager. The D2X is a very good card, much better than onboard audio. Also make sure that the cards power connector is plugged in and you have the drivers installed for it.

Having read this i presume you don't know a great deal about pc hardware. If you purchased the pc from somewhere (which sound like you have) then check with the place you got it from.

Done, done, done and done. It thinks it's working, I can get up the interface up, it even detects the speakers. But still no sound.

If you put your ear near to the speaker you should hear a hiss, were the speaker working ok previous to connecting up to your new PC?.
