They allow for 4TB drives yes, we just recommenced the 3TB red as its the best value for money
Yes, they also have an app store to download apps just like synology.

Illcheck the file formats for you Ace, I shall be getting one of these for sure now as itll mean no need for a HTPC and any other expense involved.

Worst case you download in one format and convert for the xbmc but I have been led to believe that what ever xbmc supports these do too

As for the advantage over a dedicated server, I guess that depends on the requirements and the speed needed. If the spec can cope with what you need it for then a server will become void of use if you have these also

This is something that we will add to the descriptions once we have more details. For the time being the only info available is on asustor web page and thats not exactly helpful in some cases at present.

I run synology on my N54L I have also owned a Ds211j.

Ah yes, well when you consider that then i agree they may look a little expensive but all NAS will do.

For what you get, the ease of use and how you can almost cut out the media centre under tv and use these instead makes them a very good proposition indeed

The best value by far has to be the 202TE and 204TE in terms of what it offers the consumer. The 3 series and 6 series are faster and are designed to be able to be used by a multitude of users throughout the home or business at the same time. The 2 Series is designed to be used by up to say 4 people at the same time and as such is not as hardware heavy.

The 202TE is without doubt the unit I shall be purchasing and testing on the forums myself if not the 204TE.
