At long last.....X-Fi WHQL Drivers

Does anyone know if they have fixed the problem with the BETAs and BF2, where 50% of the time you go into a server it would crash with a weird error?

Works great for me. Sound quality is the same since I'm using digital out (I'd hope so, too!).
CD.

Now, that's what I've been looking for to know, and haven't found an answer. I have a set of fantastic Logitech Z-5500 and they sound great with my integrated AC97 realtek Chip, but I want to upgrade to a PCI soundcard, to get the EAX stuff on the games.

I was thinking on buying the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music, to use it with my speakers. My question is that if I better use analog ouputs, or any digital ones. I prefer to use any digital beacause of the quality of the sound is always better than analog. But if I use digital, will I loose on EAX? will I not be able to hear the games correctly?

Any light on this, would be appreciate it.

Thanks.

The X-Fi is really designed to be used over analogue. Unless the source is already DD or DTS, then it will output in 2.0 over digital because it lacks DDL or DTS-Connect.

The HDA X-plosion is the best choice for people who want to use a digital connection, though I personally argue that the enhancements provided by the X-Fi over analogue probably outweigh the benefits provided by using digital on any other card (plus only Creative cards have the newest versions of EAX). I have an X-Fi connected to Z-5500's over analogue and it sounds damn spiffy indeed.
Anyone using posh expensive amp/decoders might wanna consider going pure digital, but otherwise...

It's still a bit out of order for Creative to be so behind on this stuff, mind.

I just downloaded a patch from creative for unreal torunament, was 180mb, and in unreal tournament there is no section to select Open AL, so how do i get Open Al in ut2k4?, other games have somthing to select it.

ah, but i got the latest drivers, i still dont have open AL support in ut2k4 by looks of it, unless there aint supposed to be an option.

the new drivers have not fixed my crackling problem

when using cakewalk project5 v2 or z3ta+ and my mk449c keyboard with
asio 24bit 96000 , just moving the pitch bend wheel cuts affected sound off
and then crackling starts at a low level and gets progresively louder
to almost speaker busting volumes
only fix is to shut down cakewalk (midi reset wont work)
and use 24bit 48000 asio ... i didnt buy this card for an extra 8bits of clarity
i want my extra 48000hz as well !! the card is supposed to be capable of it
wish id got a cl@ret now
