At The Drive-In - A beginners guide to an amazing band

Well the one before amputecture was based on a diary one of the members found belonging to a deadbeat heroin addict. So it probably wasn't meant to make sense.
I just wondered if the new one had a similar story?

Some of the lyrics are intriguing but I don't know what to make of them.

Like you, I really can only accept them musically as the lyrics are above me.

No.

The new album is about religion hence all the references to Satan.

I'll provide a link tomorrow.

I have the in/casino/out and acrobatic tenement albums, cant say i listen to them all that much though, only really when they come on shuffle.

URGH! Such a good band!

I loved the latest Mars Volta record too. Which is saying something as I hated the previous two.

What an old bump! Thing is, everything said in the opening post still rings true...At The Drive-In are one of the most important bands of the 90s...

I was there also. Long live ATDI. I'm a bit of an early sparta fan, but ofc nothing beats atdi. Lots of strange memories surrounding them (if my buddy reads the boards and catches this: insane night in Neils flat?.. Cut away. jesus..).

Used to get played in my 6th form all the time. I just thought (at the time) it was a bit pretentious somehow and I never rated them as musicians... Tried a few times to get into the mars volta but the whiney voice puts me off!

invalid litter department is the song is the first song i remember hearing by them then completely forgot about them til i found the single a few years later and i also got this station is non operational from fopp back in the day for like £3 or £4 which was a bargain :D

Thanks for this, I've been a Volta fan for a while now and bought a few ATDI CDs a while back but somehow forgot about them until now!

the new version of rockband/guitar hero is confirmed to have one armed scissor as a song, so expect masses of people to roam the streets with ATDI tshirts soon.

not a bad thing (well it doesn't really bother me) as long as more people are exposed to what was an amazing band during their existence!

WOOHOO, 2 POSTS 2 YEARS APART!

Finally pick up Relationship of Command today, I've been listening to TMV for ages so been meaning check out ATDI and I'm glad I did. Still sounds fresh today even tho it's 8 years old! :) Thanks for the reviews, I'll check out their other releases also...
