At what point do you say GPU's are too expensive and refuse to buy?

Is there a mental limit you have set in your head that you refuse to go over?
Personally I think £2k is already crazy money for a GPU but my needs are different to some of you guys obviously.

Normally probably £1.5k ish +/- £100 depending on how grumpy I am after waking up but definitely gonna be looking to pick up a 5090 so that's gone out the window.

My 3080 can't hack it at 4K anymore (was still great for 1440 though) so going to lube up and present funds to Gibbo :D

I think I paid £795 for my 6950xt. At the time, I said to myself that's over what my limit is, as I also had to factor in a rather expensive EK 'Red Devil' specfic waterblock (which tbf looks amazing). Now I'm back in the market to get something else, I'm kinda thinking that I'm done with it all. Get a PS5 pro maybe and just use the pc for work stuff. If I were to upgrade the 6950, then I guess I'd possibly be looking at the 9700xt if it's a good bit better than what I have already, but I really wanted to move back to Nvidia this time around. Max spend though is probably £6-£700 plus a waterblock.

Was prepared to pony up the $2000 for the 5090 but the results are too underwhelming and I don't have any pressing need to go for it regardless. In general I'm quite comfortable with paying $600-700 for a new GPU every 4 years.

£300 - upgrade every couple of years to last gen mid-ish range and that tends to keep up with the games I'm playig at that time.

Probably about £750 would be my limit but I think I'd probably up that to £1000 if I can get my hands on an RTX 5080 founders edition when they release next week!
