Hey guys

me and my friend both bought

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+

Sapphire ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB GDDR3

OCZ 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC3200 Dual Channel Platinum Series

Abit AT8 ATI RD480 Crossfire (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard

250gig Seagate Barracuda SATA

and neither of them are detecting the sata.

upon enetering the windows installation disk its like "press f6 to install you own raid etc etc" so i do, and further down the line it asks me to put in the floppy disc, which i do, then none of the 3 options (install on bus, raid, other i cant remember) work.

my friends pc doesnt even have a floppydrive , i borrowed out of the pc im on now.

the sata is detected by other pc's. another pc in the house is currently installing windows on it to see if that helps. but i cant even find sata in the bios on the new AT8 motherboard.

i checked all the connections multiple times everything is ok, its just the AT8 not having it.

please help me ;_; we just spent £1000 each and cant even use our new pc's !

my friend just did some tests after he found a floppy drive.

he picked all 3 of the option when the windows setup asked for them and hes now installing windows.

i tried this myself, and it says theres no hard drives!??

ok its an AX8 not an AT8 ... the box says AX8

Abit AX8 VIA K8T890 (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard

this is the board we have, sorry for providing inmcoorrect information.

PROBLEM SOLVED

the board doesnt support SATA 2

there are 4 pins to the right of the sata port

. . . .
\/
these two pins need a jumper on them that sets the board into 1.GB/s speed.

the problem is now solved :D
