Well score 2 for the gaming cases, Soldam the people who make the Windy Spirits of japan case, the best cases available have gone bust.

That means the best case manufacturer left is Lian Li, and they are not doing brilliant by their share prices.

Terrible news for the case industy, 11 July 2006 one of the biggest players in quality cases has gone the way of ATC-Tek. :(

RIP Windy cases.

www.soldam.com is also gone. :(

For them making cases its a possibility.

If it is not profitable, they simply wont do it. Speaking to Alu_ATC about this last night, and the market for these cases is declining rapidly thanks to low quality gaming cases. :(

Soldam cases are IMMENSE, ive only ever made 1 computer with a soldam case and it was perfect imo. :(

Kill all gamers cases now!!!!!

*begins to burn gaming bomb, thermaltake and other crappy cases*

A sad day. I don't understand why people love the gaming cases. I have a CM 111 (a 201 chasis which looks like a 110). I love it to bits. It's getting a little old now and only uses 80mm fans. But it's built well and is subtle. It's lasted me far longer than the cheaper cases I used to buy. So perhaps that's the problem. The market for quality cases is not only smaller than that of the gaming cases, but the users will probably change them far less often.

Yeh, its a bad buisness model.

Make products that just don't wear out for decades, and then once all the potential buyers have them, who else?

Something has to give in either the build quality or scale of Lian Li's operation or they will go the same way.

Although a way off, it is the way the PC is going, giant plastic monster heads that pop in and out when you touch them. :(

I was looking at getting one of the windy cases... but they are (were) £400ish and VERY hard to find, even in the US...

i know you need to pay for quality, but a PC7+ at £60 is in a lot more peoples reach than something 7 times the price almost, i doubt it is 7 times better... though ill concede, it looks nicer, and is a lot more unique

price is everything im afraid :(

Only cost so much due to having to illegally import them into the EU and US at one stage.

No talk of that though, sadly its against the rules even for nice case talk. :(

I can't really believe that this has happened, and so soon after you and I had that chat Yewen! Very sad, never got to see one in the flesh, but apparently quality was second to none.

This market is very limited, and building the high end subtle cases not only attracts less buyers, but costs more to produce. We all want high-end, no compromise cases, but like most products, it isn't possible unless you willing to spend a lot of money yourself.

The future for CM, Lian-Li, SS and other manufacturers will be interesting, if a little bleak. These businesses need to stay alive and what we see now as PC's will change rapidly over 5, 10 and 15 years. Windy is just a front runner of what is to come. :(

Its a shame but with them being so hard to obtain in Europe I doubt I would have ever owned one anyway.

I would have loved to own one, but as Yewen has mentioned, they didn't have the liscence to sdell them in the EU, technically making it illegal to own one. It certainly would have been nice to see them break into the EU market. Not going to happen now though. :( Looks like im going to have to invest in a top of the range LianLi instead then.
