Athene's Theory of Everything

Athene will do anything that gets his videos hits so he can make $$$. He claims to be doing whatever he does for the Gamer or whatever, but its really all about him. That aspect is fair enough, but he is just a bore fest these days, nobody on my YouTube subscription list spams their videos as much as he does.

He releases a video every 2 hours to get active subscribers. He had 600k subs before but none of them were active anymore. He's lost about 100k subs since he spammed videos, but hes gained loads more active people. So now he can do more charity events like when he raised $1,000,000 for Save The Children. He doesn't need the money for himself. He's a professional poker player. He still wears crap clothes and doesn't own a car.

There are many people who are well off for money who don't crave material possessions and have poor style, so I don't see how thats indicative of anything.

Yes he has done some good by raising money for charity, and its good that he has agreed to do video work for charities that have approached him, as his subscriber base means they reach a large audience.

What I'm trying to point out though is that this is his job, this overall is how he makes a living and even promotes himself to get other work. I've got no bones about people making a living through YouTube, I just think that some of what he does is thinly veiled at trying to be helping other YouTubers and Gamers, but ultimately its all about getting the hits to make him money.

I'm one of the people who isn't a fan of all his spamed videos as you can tell. I watched him when he used to do real life videos which were released every now and again. The fact that he has so many different video categories across one channel is also as far as I see it, a sign that again he is after the hits/cash. Most other big YouTubers will split their content across different channels, rather than lumping it all on one channel and then releasing tons of videos. He even has videos from his girlfriend on there now, rather than on her channel she used to have, again going for the easy hits by putting a hottie in there.

I intend to become one of those unsubscribers, I just haven't hit the button yet.

I think they mean a year putting it all together to make sense to us dummies. He's been studying all that stuff most of his life. He was top of all his classes, even though his teachers were upset with the amount of trolling he did.

I just watched the whole vid and yes the science is pretty much correct, if not a bit out-dated, but he doesn't actually say anything. I'm not even sure what the message of the video is supposed to be? He just lists a bunch of well known theories and phenomena. It's simply a rehash of things that have been said in many books already. Waste of time IMO, brings absolutely nothing new.

His draw is consciousness but he makes no concrete statements about it I agree. It's as though he wants to believe it can exist without the body but can't bring himself to say it.

I quite liked the first half of the video, it tied up with my own ideas and bits of what I've read in stuff like 'thinking, fast and slow'. The second half of the video would have been awesome if I was stoned.

Yeah exactly. Until a particle has a relationship to something else it basically doesn't exist in spacetime, there's no way to measure where or when it is without a frame of reference. It exists super-positioned on the "information layer" detached from space and time as a probability wave or interference pattern. That explains why stuff pops in and out of existence in a vacuum and we get things like the Casimir effect.

When it is "observed" or measured, in other words when it has to interact with spacetime, it becomes entangled with everything else and it's probability wave collapses to an outcome that complies with entropy and it pops in to existence. On the micro scale it appears to be random/probabilistic but when you zoom out to the macro scale you get predictable systems that conform to classical physics (like a brain).

ETA: actually all it's probabilities comply with entropy, but one outcome has to be "chosen" in order to make sense with time. Whether it's truly random or not is a different subject.

So, what is making the observation?

limited in scientific value.

Well that parts right.

Part 1: Athene is amazed that our consciousness isn't a single thing, but rather a complex network of changing circuitry.

Part 2: Athene makes up some stuff which claims to 'solve' problems in physics, seems to misunderstand what a vector is, and contradicts many interpretations of quantum theory, most notably debroglie-bohm.

So you spout all that crap beforehand and you've only just watched it?

Athene is a media-whoring idiot, and you're wrong too.

He is?

And here I thought he was just doing it all for the kids in Africa. Which he sort of is. I notice that a lot of his content tries to elicit that kind of reaction from people, but it works. Ends up raising a fair amount for charity.

Also I'm not sure why people would find this kind of video, of all things, from him boring. I personally find reviews and general opinions on scientific research fairly interesting.
