Fair point, sorry I was assuming the chip was functioning correctly . . .
Was the older chip bought as part of a retail package i.e does it have a three year warranty? . . . . you may have grounds to RMA it to AMD?

No I bought the oem version.
My try this chip again if I decide to upgrade the motherboad.
How you getting on with the new AII X3 400e chip then Euro_Hunter?
I am thinking maybe you got it slapped in, checked the temps and have gone back to normal life!
In which case the only thing you would have noticed is if the PC has slowed down since the upgrade, or has it sped up, or is it working just right?

Not really fully up and running just yet as I have been using my Q6600 2.4ghz as my htpc and need to swap drives over and re-install mediabrowser etc.
Just really delaying this atm as I have only just got it setup as I wanted on this rig and not rellishing doing it again.
So on the X3 I have just installed Windows 7 x64 and just using it as a net browser at the moment, hopefully start setting it up as my htpc soon though.

Well these cheap AMD chips are really finding there place in the market.
I am loving it at the Mo!
Euro Hunter, let us know how you get on, im interested in something similar to yours. I have a WDTV player but paid to move things all the time from the pc as i have the non network one.
