I want to know which one is better overall in gaming? The two in question are
Connect3D ATI Radeon X1900 XT and Connect3D ATI Radeon X1800 XT?

The X1900XT is better overall, if it's within your budget then go for it without hesitation. :) If it's not, then the X1800XT is a fine alternative, and not very far behind its bigger brother in terms of performance.

The 1900xt is the better card but the 1800xt is a steal at the price now.

Don't be fooled by the 1900GT, it's not as good as an 1800xt.

Either Zalman vf900cu or an arctic accelero (Or whatever they're called nowadays) will do *** job. I do recall someone mentioning vf900's not working THAT well on 1900xt's but wait for someone else to confirm it.

Cools slightly better than stock, it's much quieter than stock though so that's good enough reason (ATI stock cooler during gaming was the loudest and most pronounced sound over other noise from my case)

OK what cooling would be best for the ATI 1900XT? As i heard it runs very hot. Don't want watercooling though
Go for the Zalman VF900-Cu, the Arctic Acellero X2 blows hot air straight at the motherboard and this is particularly nasty if you don't have aftermarket chipset cooling. The VF900-Cu cooled my X1800XT very nicely, I can't imagine it doing much worse on an X1900XT. :)

I got a accelo 2 for my x1900xt and have no probs with the chipset on mobo, just has the standard heatsink on, the fan on the accelo is on 100% all the time and i can't hear it, if you look about its £10 cheaper too.

I will add though i saw a thread going round here where somone had taken a accelo off and it had pulled a resistor of his card or somet like that.

Depends what res you play at tbh, if your using a TFT with a res of 1280x1024 then id go for the x1800 at only £150, will easily run everything at that res maxed out, mine does with ease. :)

If you play at higher ones though then go for the x1900, as the higher you go the bigger the gap will be. :)

My X1800XT 256MB hasn't failed me yet up to 1600x1200, even in Oblivion, but I am sticking at 1440x900 since I went LCD. It's my opinion that a single X1900XT would be able to handle pretty much anything just fine all the way up to 1920x1400 with few exceptions. :)

At 1920x1400 with 4x antialiasing, benchmarks put it at roughly 60fps in Battlefield 2, 60fps for Day Of Defeat: Source, 60fps for Far Cry, 40fps for F.E.A.R., 40fps for Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and 50fps for Quake IV.

I think we owe it to ATI's superior ability to handle post-processing effects, The X1000 series has never had a big performance hit with AA. :D
