i just upgraded a friends computer with a HIS ATI Radeon HD 4850 IceQ 4 Turbo
and it does nothing but stutter in games, i have tried 8.8 & 8.9 cats
same problem exists

also what he noticed too!! is that it has put about 12 extra loading bars
while booting xp up.

he says the 4850 is worse than the geforce 7900 that it replaced as his pc normally
boots up with 1 bar with the nvidia card, could this be a faulty card?

he has a quad core and 4gb of ram so its not lacking power
all his components are fine i.e hard disc, PSU, cooling.

Sounds like drivers.. Was device manager showing a nvidia display adapter or standard pci when you installed the ATI drivers? Try driver sweeper and re-install the ATI Drivers.

building a pc up shortly so ill be able to tell if its graphics card or xp
but i doubt its XP

yes nvidia drivers were removed by driver sweeper
i put his nvidia card back in to test and it works perfectly
his motherboard is intel 975 chipset has the latest bios

ill let you no guys how i get on, starting to build a different pc up the now
for somebody else, using a p35 chipset motherboard
