Kinda, it's still a bit up in the air as to whether there are core tweaks or not. There are definitely changes to the PCB, though, but not necessarily the heatsink.

As the GDDR5 memory of the HD 4890 (Single) is regarded, AMD wants to reach 3,900 million transactions/s - RV770 based cards reach 3,600 MT/s. Those numbers indicate an increase in gaming performance of 8 to 20 percent, depending on game and sequence.

yeah rumoured to be an overclocked core, faster memory, more efficient shaders, maybe even a whole new ASIC, all rumours until it's out though.

Well today I just bought $144 for £100 meaning if the Us price is $249 it should be £172, plus uk rip off taxes equals £200

Why anyone would pay about £200 for these new cards is a joke they are just a 4870 realy , the extra clocks they come with as std are easily reached with the 4870 anyway.

I think an overclocked 4890 should be on par with gtx 285 stock.
SO if you wan't the best setup/bang for buck then 4890x2 xfire is the way to go.
I'll think the release price will be around £200ish whichc isn't too bad for the potencial performance increase.

They are, i almost bought a 9800GTX+ for £115 the other week (phew!), now i'm just gonna lay in the weeds and see how low 260's go over the next couple of weeks.

the260s at that price are the 192 sp i think which means it would prolly be quite a bit slower than a 4890
