As title, I have read a LOT of posts on several forums (one spanning over 90 pages) of issues with these cards, and I dont yet see if there is a definitive cure.

I have just built a system for a friend using an Asus 5770, and I am having some issues with it, which I suspected to be a psu, but has proved not too be.
Now I suspect it may be the mobo, but seeing the plethora of 5xxx problem posts I am wondering if that may be a factor ...

check he has latest NB drivers for his mobo installed. And triple check RAM, its the most common cause to the problem, hope this helps

i am having major problems with the 5870 vapor x....the thing is if i lower the speeds its ok....taking it back sometime this week to try to resolve it.

It has the latest nb drivers from the MSI webby, not sure if amd have any newer ones for the 770 chipset ? and latest bios on mobo.
Ram is running well under its spec rating so shouldn't be an issue.
On win 7 64 bit btw and using latest official 10.3 cats.

I feel its likely a mobo problem TBH, but all the 5xxx problem posts have sidetracked me, especially as I intend to buy a 5850 soon ;)
So I wanted to check on their reliability before I parted with any money ;)

For those that have stable 5xxx cards - how long have you had them? Are they all from a "good" first batch perhaps?

My 5770 isn't a happy bunny at the moment - seems I'm not alone!

got mine about a month or 2 after launch and all is good. The laptop with the 5650 is only a few weeks old but you can't really put it under the same banner as the desktop parts so it's probably not relevant at all.

ATI still has issues with switching VRAM frequency, rendering to hardware surfaces in windows/2D clocks and a number of related issues which may or may not affect you depending on what you do.

2 x 5770 here never had any problems since buying pc from overclockers . Think the only time you hear of problems is on forums like these , and you never hear from the 1000s of people who never had any problems!. Plus i think half the time its not the new GPU thats at fault , but other parts of the pc. :)
